The Scooby Gang are Back by Kristin

The Scoobies Are Back! That’s right, our beloved Buffy characters are returning and with Whedon as well. There are few details currently known, but it will be animated. Well, as animated as the Watchmen motion comic was. It will be an adaption of the Buffy comic books, sadly no word as to which comics. Personally, I hope it will be an adaption of season eight. The voice actors have yet to be announced. Sadly, with Anthony Head’s current work in the new Merlin series, doubts are that they will not be the cast of the show. As stated, Whedon will be involved just not as much as most would like. He will simply give his approval, views, and suggestions; at least he still has some say. As disappointing as it may be, it stakes the heart of the new movie.

Tricia Helfer is Dare in new Halo game

Crossover post with LesbianGamers.com given its relevance to both. Battlestar Galactica's Tricia Helfer plays female character "Dare" in the new Halo title ODST: Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. Dare is the commanding officer in the UNSC Marine Corp and head of the Shock Trooper squad. We've got a feeling she won't be playable (unless it's in multiplayer), which sucks. On a note of trivia, Tricia Helfer joins Katee Sackoff (Battlestar Galactica's Starbuck) as one of the female voices in the Halo universe. Full image of Dare after the jumperoo.

Otalia: Never Gonna Happen (Frank) by lejunkdrawer

It's not too often we post YouTube clips that aren't scifi / geek related, but today we're making an exception. We came across this talented lady via a comment at Lesbian Gamers and thought her editing work was so great we'd highlight her and one of her videos here at the geek.

Now the US soap opera Guiding Light may  not fall under the moniker of Lesbian Geekage per se, but the craftsmanship of the Otalia videos by YouTube user 'lejunkdrawer' certainly does (well we had to tie it in somehow ;-) Check out her video "Never Gonna Happen" below. Great stuff!

Ugly Betty lesbian storylines killed off

We think Ugly Betty falls under nerd / geek misc, as it's a fairly geeky show. So with this in mind we thought recent comments by Vanessa Williams about the show were interesting. According to Williams - who plays Wilhelmina Slater in the show - there was meant to be a lesbian love affair between Judith Light's character Claire and Christine Baranski's character Victoria.

Williams stated "[ABC] put the kibosh on it," - "I don't know why."and Executive producer Silvio Horta stated "We thought about it, but ultimately decided to go in a direction that would set up more stories for next season."

Yeah because having a couple of lesbians in the show will impede setting up other stories, give me a break.

Grasping at Subtext - A new podcast that looks for lesbian subtext in pop culture

Just a quick shout out to a new podcast on the net that is very cool indeed. Friends of LesbianGeek.com Dany and Kendra bring you "Grasping at Subtext" (great name guys!), a new podcast about spotting lesbian subtext in TV shows, movies, books and whatever else takes their fancy. The podcast has a cool laidback conversational style so you should check it out.

Admiral Adama addresses the UN on the subject of 'race'

I just saw this little clip of Eddie - Admiral Adama - Olmos at the UN and thought I'd share it with you all. His words are wonderful and the passion with which they are spoken heartfelt. It is messages like this that should be disseminated far and wide, for it is messages like this one that have a great depth of meaning. We should all listen to the Admiral.

    So say we all.

Maureen Ryan The Watcher of the Chicago Tribune

We'd like to highlight someone with geek status. Someone who looks more like a lady politician or school teacher than the stereotypical geek. The lady in question is Maureen Ryan. She writes for the Chicago Tribune and we've thoroughly enjoyed her insight and interviews about Battlestar Galactica.

'Mo' writes about many shows in her column "The Watcher" and seems to be a bit of a geek with a sweet writing style. If you've missed her BSG thoughts and you're a fan of the series, be sure and check those out as they're filled with information.

Celebrity Twitterers and Lesbian Geeks and Gamers

You may or may not be aware that both Lesbian Gamers and Lesbian Geek are on Twitter. We'd love it is you followed us as we're thinking of using them more regularly.

That aside we wanted to talk about geeky celebrity Twitters and who you might want to follow. We've been having a lot of fun following Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, two people we really had no interest in, but their Twitter updates tell a different story to the stuck up celebs you might think. Some other good celebrity Twitterers include Stephen Fry, Felicia Day and Wil Wheaton. Maybe you know some good celeb twitters? Why not add them in our comments.

Star Trek perfume coming from Genki

If you've heard of "Genki Wear" before then kudos to you because you my friend are an even bigger geek than she that types this... bravo. Genki Wear are a little company that released a few sweet jewelry pieces based on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe. Now it seems they're taking on the scent of Star Trek.

Rumor has it we can expect to see three new perfumes from the company including two for men... not really perfume then, more cologne, some men get funny about such things. The perfumes include "Tiberius", named after none other than Captain Kirk. There's also "Red Shirt" after those expendable away team members and the womens scent of "Ponn Farr", named after a Vulcan mating ritual. No word on a release, probably alongside the new Trek film?

    Change to site content

    Hey guys,
well as you've probably noticed the site isn't being updated every day as it was in the beginning. This is due to time constraints.. which sucks. We don't want to let the site die though, so we've decided to just make it more of a geek news hub where we'll try and fish out anything lesbian related, or even perhaps just of lesbian interest in some form or another, or any cool geek news.

We'll also be dropping the post images as these take more time to find, edit and add than even writing the posts at times. We figure they're not that important in the grand scheme of things, as you're more interested in the info. Images will be added to posts body when appropriate / needed.

    Feedback welcome.
