James Bond RPG - Retro review

Tabletop role-players used to have slim choice when it came to genre gaming and the spy genre was one that was thin on the ground in amongst all those elves, goblins and half orcs. The James Bond RPG was released  in 1983 by Victory Games and gave players the chance to become an agent in Her Majesty's Secret Service.

We're going to take a brief look at what made the James Bond 007 RPG game so appealing and what helped set it apart from a lot of other RPGs of the early eighties. Does it still stand up now and what's it like to don the guise of a Double 0 agent working magnanimously for her Majesty.

X-Files movie review - I Wanted to Believe

Well the X-Files movie is out and a certain lesbian geek was there at opening to see it. Was it disappointing? Was it cool to see Scully and Mulder on screen again? Was Mulder the righteous dick he usually is?

All these questions and more answered in our full review of The X-Files: I Want to Believe movie.

Vampires & Gays? PSA's similar message

Vampires and the queer community have something in common it seems... some people want to hurt them and feel they're ungodly creatures, they also seem to approach their PSA's in the same manner.

It's an interesting concept and one we thought you'd think was clever and close to your hearts.

    Birds of Prey DVD release

Huntress and oracle, how we ladies love thee... Plural of thee? Ack! Anyways, Birds of Prey is FINALLY out on DVD. Yes that's right, the crime fighting super hero type ladies can now be yours to take home - all 737 minutes of their exploits.

Birds of Prey stars Ashley Scott as Helena Kyle, Dina Meyer as Barbra Gordon and finally Rachel Skarsten as Dinah Redmond. If some of the character names ring a bell here's how it works: Helena Kyle is aka Huntress the daughter of Batman and Catwoman. Barbra Gordon is of course Batgirl, or was until she became the wheelchair bound Oracle. Dinah, well she's kind of the young innocent thing and really not that exciting.

What is exciting though is its strong female cast, camp crime fighting antics and some cool guest spots, like Mia Sara as the villain Harley Quinn and Lori Loughlin as The Black Canary. Get it now at Amazon.. oh and not long till Witchblade is out as well, loads of kick ass female goodness!

    Caprica trailer looks confusing

Caprica has had its first trailer released and I have to say I'm a tad confused. As was previously revealed the Daniel Graystone character was going to create a robotic version of his dead daughter. Thing is the daughter looks human in the trailer. That being the case does it not fly in the face of the history Battlestar Galactica shows?

In BSG the cylons were robotic centurions who rebelled thus causing the first cylon war. After  the war - during the armistice - the cylons (now sentient) started biotechnological experiments on humans and the 12 models of cylon were crafted. However Caprica seems to suggest one Doctor (Graystone) in his grief develops the first cylon... Zoe-R ...CONFUSED!

    Lena Headey by Malinda Lo

Lena Headey fan? Well you MUST check out the little article Malinda Lo over at AfterEllen has written. It goes a little something like this.... Malinda misses her interview slot with Lena Headey. Malinda told Lena will be at the party she's at later. Lena shows up, Malinda says she missed their interview. Lena pulls Malinda into a photo-booth and she gets her interview.

What an awesome little story! Lena - for the uninitated - plays Sarah Connor in The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She also played cute florist Luce in 'Imagine Me & You' with Piper Perabo. On a side note Malinda also chats to Joss Whedon about Buffy getting down with her bi side.

    Brent Rinehart comic book

Brent Rinehart's comic isn't the sort of comic that would generally hit our Comic Book section here at Lesbian Geek, but for this unintelligent fool, we're making an exception. Brent you see is an Oklahoma County Commissioner, or was until some felony charges allegedly.

Anyways good ole Brent has sent out a comic book to his voters, a comic penned by himself that you can find HERE. Why are we linking to a homophobic comic book? - So you can write to the powers that be and complain. This guy can't spell, has little grip on reality and clearly isn't that well educated. The fact he's in public office is embarrassing.

Can anyone say 'Internalized Homophobia'  or Cognitive Dissonance.

    Tim Buckley Interview - Ctrl-Alt-Del

Ctrl-Alt-Del creator Tim Buckley has kindly taken part in a Q&A for us here at Lesbian Geek and sister site Lesbian Gamers. Buckley is the talented mastermind behind popular webcomic 'Ctrl-Alt-Del' and 'The Sillies'.

If you'd like a little insight into what Buckley thinks about the recent furore over the miscarriage storyline he ran, or how he came to include a female gamer as a regular in his webcomic (yay him!!), this interview is for you. He also tells us who he'd turn gay for (since this is the question we usually end Q&A's on, Rove style).
