    Queer Science Fiction

Queer Sci-Fi, you have to love that right? Annalee Newitz over at i09 has done her homework and comes up with what she believes are "a list of science fiction guaranteed to make even the most hetero and cisgender people wonder, just for a nanosecond, "Gee, maybe I should . . . ?""

There's a few gems on the list, but we can't help but feel a little more coverage could have been given to Six and D'Anna in bed together, not to mention Gina and Helena Cain. Oh well, maybe next time. Still, it's worth a geek read for those that like a little queerty and gender bending.

Speaking of Helena and Gina.. we can't help ourselves, here's a clip.

    Nicki Clyne Interview with LesbianGeek

Battlestar Galactica fans, don't shed a tear that we're on a mid season break - we know, it's tough! We've got a little Battlestar Galactica goodness for you in the shape of an exclusive interview with the truly lovely Nicki Clyne aka Cally Henderson Tyrol.

Nicki talks BSG, The L Word and who she'd turn gay for in this fabulicious interview. She also dishes some info on an upcoming web project she's working on with friends. She's a sweet lady and we love her more because she listed “Irregardless” as her least favorite word.. we hate that too.

Click here for the Nicki Clyne Interview in all its glory.

Girls Rebel Force of Competitive Swimmers

Girls Rebel Force of Competitive Swimmers! All girls swim team and some lesbian loving, sounds pretty cool. Throw in a mad professor type with a penchant for turning innocent students into maniacal psychopaths and you've got the makings of a Hong Kong D list gore-fest.

Luckily for the school the water in the pool is a kind of antidote to the bloodthirsty maniac making virus, so the girls swim team, led by big shouldered Aki (who also happens to be a trained assassin) can kick some serious ass. Sure it's probably really bad, but hey it's cute Asian girls making out and kicking ass. If it sounds like your thing you can buy it at Play Asia.

Descent 2 - The Grrls are back!

Descent 2 movie in the works... huh.. how, didn't The Descent end rather badly for most involved (she says trying not to give it away for those that may have missed it). If you didn't see it (and why not!!?) The Descent is a scare fest that revolves around an all female cast who go caving. If you like your scary films and haven't seen it, grab it and do so, it's actually pretty good.

The Descent 2 apparently features all of the original cast in some form and is a return to the cave we all saw them in last. What I remember more than anything about The Descent is my huge crush on Juno (one of the characters). I hope she's back.. in some form or other. No release date as of yet.

    Batwoman is back & de-closeted?

Batwoman = lesbian, as you've probably been aware for some time now. When news first broke of Batwoman's closeted lifestyle - in 2006 - there was a bit of uproar in the comicbook community. Isn't it annoying when one minority group starts ragging on another! That was a couple of years ago and it seems Batwoman is finally due to step out of the closet.

It's a strange one, as we covered a while ago, Batwoman is seemingly out to the reader anyway as she dates Renee Montoya. News of a new Batwoman series broke on artist Todd Klein's website and then was swiftly removed. Keep your eyes open for it, it will probably get an official announcement at the San-Diego Comic-Con event.

Apocalypstix follows the story of Mandy, Dot and Megumi, three girls who were set for superstardom, when Doomsday happened and they woke up in the rubble of what once was. They thought "frak it!" and carried on their world tour regardless. You can check out the first 50 pages at the CBR preview and the actual comic is released next month.

    Erick Wujcik passes on

Erick Wujcik was said by the people that new him to be a "game designer, writer, artist, originator of ideas, thinker and kind soul." and also "1) that he is a true game designing genius, and 2) that he is a true Bohemian." There is some game going on in the afterlife, what with Gary Gygax and now Erick Wujcik in that place - wherever that may be

Erick Wujcik designed tabletop RPGs and video games, he also co-founded Palladium Books - makers of games such as the eponymous Palladium, along with Heroes Unlimited, TMNT, Robotech and of course Rifts. In late November 2007 an otherwise healthy Wujcik went to the doctors with what he believed to be a cold, he was told he had aggressive pancreatic cancer and 5 weeks to live. On June 7 it was announced Erick had died, way outlasting doctors estimates - he must have rolled a critical. Godspeed gamesmaster, give Gary a nudge from us gamers.
