Parthenogenesis – Two lesbians reproduce

The possibility of two women having a child may well be available to women in the future. Parthenogenesis is the process by which two females can reproduce without the need of sperm, thus the name Parthenos [virgin] Genesis [creation].
Some plants and animals already produce offspring in this manner and scientists have used the procedure that enabled two female mice to have children together. Despite many ethical concerns and other stumbling blocks, historically speaking we may one day see this sort of reproduction as normal.
Yes this is an April Fools Day post, but there’s also quite a bit of truth to it, which we’ll look at now, including the full story.
Despite the two female mice reproducing without the need of sperm, most of the offspring died, though one survived and had offspring of her own (the children were all female). This was the first experiment however so this is nothing to be overly concerned with.
Historically speaking most huge medical research that brings into question ethical issues has gone through a period of intense displeasure, both at the hands of society and the scientific community. However generally speaking, many of these sorts of procedures will eventually just become the way of things and it's no big deal. So if looking at these things in a historical fashion, it isn’t a huge leap to suggest two women may one day be able to have children together that will share both of their genes, just as a man and woman may and it too will be no biggy.
Happy April Fools Day... don’t you wish you had a time machine?
Oh and before we get lambasted with spam stating we’re all men hating ignoramuses, this post was written with nothing of the sort in mind and was merely an interesting geek piece covering science and what one day may be. It does not suggest the Earth should rid itself of men, only that love in any form may one day bear offspring.
