VTM - Criminal Intent noir scenario

Criminal Intent by White Wolf is an interactive storytelling adventure system (SAS) that delves into the Masquerade. The adventure deals with what happens when a devoted protector of the Masquerade hires your coterie to find dirt on an officer of the local court who got caught feeding, and to deal with the mortal artist who witnessed it. At first it looks like a straightforward job, but the whole situation is like digging into an old grave – there’s a lot under the surface that most people don’t want to see.

If you’re into your Vampire the Masquerade RPG and you’re looking for a quick adventure solution, you can download the Criminal Intent SAS from DriveThruRPG. The file if 12.21MB in size and will cost you $6.99- Not too bad for a full noir adventure you can print out, or be a flashy GM with a laptop on the table.

Horror movie make-over with Platinum Dune

Platinum Dune partners (Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form) are all about the horror remake. First up they will create a new franchise based on Wes Craven’s 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street. Platinum Dune is already working on resurrecting another horror great in the form of Jason Voorhees, which begins shooting in May.

They're is also preparing a Near Dark remake (the cool vampire flick) and a remake of The Birds. Sometimes it’s good to remake classics, sometimes, if they’re as iconic as The Birds… not so good. They’re also working on an exorcism movie. All the franchises are said to be getting a ‘complete overhaul’. Time will tell whether this be a good thing or a dire thing.

    Giant iPod headphone speakers

Got a friend who is like 50 feet tall? If you do these giant iPod speakers are really neat. Actually they’re kind of cool even if you don’t have a 50 foot tall friend that might find them of use. The speakers look just like original iPod headphones, only these babies sit on your desk. They’ll be available from Fred & Friends, though there’s no pricing or arrival date listed at the moment.

The giant iPod headphone speakers are called the 500XL, apparently due to the fact they’re said to be 500 times the size of the originals. We award anyone who purchases these 500 times the geek points and up their armor class rating by a good few points, just for pure geek cool factor.

Valentines Zune - for the grrl you love

Sure we all know a lot of lesbians love their iPods (and other Apple wares), but that doesn't mean you couldn't give some Microsoft Zune love. You can "customize a Zune gift for a loved one with special Valentine's Day themed designs. Personalize your Zune Card with new Valentine's Day themed tiles and backgrounds".

The Zune is a digital media product similar to the iPod, but with other capabilities such as FM radio receiver and the ability to share files wirelessly with other Zune owners. If your girl likes her gadgetry and owns an Xbox 360 ,this little gem will also hook up to that to give her a geekgasm. You can check out the Valentines Day Zune at the Microsoft Zune website HERE.

Battlestar Galactica Last Supper image & clues

This post might be construed as 'spoilers' by some people, so if you don't want ANY detail of Battlestar Galactica Season 4 read no further! So what we have here is an image released by Ron Moore (creator BSG) to Entertainment Weekly. This image has tortured my eye and had my brain whirring since I first saw it. Here's why.. it has some major clues about season 4 (due to begin April) of the show embedded in its imagery. Here's what some people are suggesting: Ron Moore seemed to suggest that final elusive cylon model is not at the table. That doesn't leave many obvious choices (Dualla? Ellen? Gaeta? Cally? Zarek?).

Other clues apparently lay in the reactions of certain characters to others... Chief plays with a knife (and where's Cally?), Apollo sits alone in civilian uniform, Roslin burns something, non corner cut books lay in front of Starbuck (ie books from Earth?). New cylon Natalie berates someone and Number Six is like Christ in the center.. well I worship her anyway, now I guess it's all ok. So what do you think? some fans have even superimposed this image with the original last supper image, reversed it, mirrored it and come up with all sorts of theories. What are yours? (full size image here).

    The Stranded - comic

If you’re a comic book fan, you might want to check out The Stranded by Virgin Comics. The comic comes courtesy of a partnership between Virgin Comics and the SCI FI Channel and is released this month. The Stranded comic is said to be “an epic adventure spanning two worlds as seen through the eyes of five ordinary people whose extraordinary abilities may ultimately spell doom or salvation for the entire universe."

It also has smatterings of The 4400 / Battlestar Galactica and Heroes in the story framework, since The Stranded are people stranded on Earth who are actually aliens from another planet. The story features the struggles they go through when their abilities come to the fore and they realize their entire lives have been a lie. The first issue which is released Jan 23 features two covers, one by Marc Silvestri and one by Greg Horn. Check out some of it HERE.

"If You Lick it You Own it"

There's something about Meredith Viera that is just so... yummy. Sure we know she's not a lesbian, but she's a smart older lady, what's not to like. Here Meredith shows us geek grrls a bit of her nerdy side when she gets all excited about the new MacBook Air. Sure it's really a boring little news item about the new slimline computer, but if you're a Mac fan and a Meredith fan, you're going to LOVE this. Enjoy...
